PDAR Training with Dr. Calvin Chin

One of the most important things we can do to make our community safer is to look out for one another. Today, we had a very productive PDAR training session–through discussion and a role-play exercise, we learned how to effectively respond and support one another when someone is in distress. If you couldn’t attend the training, but you would like to become a PDAR partner, you can email Dr. Calvin Chin at cc23@princeton.edu to schedule a PDAR session either for your department or as a stand-alone session.

There is also a 30-minute online simulation available: Kognito’s At-Risk for College Students tool. This interactive simulation trains you on how to recognize warning signs of another student’s psychological distress, and how to use motivational interviewing to build trust and motivate the student to seek help. To access the simulation go to kognitocampus.com and create an account. To begin the account creation process, click on “click here” in the orange text above the login field and enter the required information. The enrollment key is puarus18 (case sensitive). Select Princeton University in the affiliation field.
